‘Modern Industrial’ Shelf Unit

Bespoke bookshelf made from scaffolding planks and timber board found in a skip outside a building site. The unit is fixed to the wall and supported by a structure made with high pressure plumbing pipes and fittings. All pipes were hand-threaded to avoid sharp edges and get the smoothest finish possible, and custom painted with different layers of paint to achieve a cast iron look finish.

The unit also includes a reading light mounted on a swivel arm made out of pipes and fittings.
The wood was torch burned and then brushed to expose and enhance the character of the grain; the boards are finished with hard wearing varnish.
